What we collect,
and why.
We are a small foundation. We collect as little as we can, we do not sell anything about you, and we use no advertising trackers.
Who we are
Citizens of Our Planet, a Chili Piper Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) private foundation registered in the United States, EIN 87-1179310, at 1 Dock 72 Way, Brooklyn, New York 11205. We are the data controller for this website. You can reach us any time at hello@citizensofourplanet.org.
What this site collects
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and where they arrive from. It sets cookies and records a truncated IP address, the pages you view, and general information about your device and country. We use it to make the site better, nothing else. We do not use it for advertising, we have not enabled Google Signals or ad personalisation, and we do not share this data with advertisers.
Email. If you write to us, we keep your message and your address so we can reply and so we have a record of a project proposal or a press enquiry. Our email runs on Google Workspace.
Donations. Donations are handled by Donorbox, together with its payment processors. Your card or bank details go to them, not to us. We receive your name, email address, the amount and the date, which we need to send an acknowledgement letter and to keep the records the IRS requires of us. Donorbox has its own privacy policy that governs what it does with your data.
Fonts. Some typefaces are served by Google Fonts, which means Google receives a request from your browser including your IP address when a page loads.
We do not run advertising pixels, retargeting tags, session recording or heat mapping, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
Cookies
The only cookies this site sets are the Google Analytics ones described above. You can refuse or delete them in your browser settings at any time without losing access to anything here, and Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Analytics everywhere.
How long we keep things
Analytics data expires automatically after 14 months. Email correspondence is kept while it is useful and then deleted. Donation records are kept for as long as United States charity and tax law requires us to keep them.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our lawful basis is legitimate interest for analytics and site security, consent where you have given it, and legal obligation for donation records. If you are in California, we confirm that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.
Write to hello@citizensofourplanet.org and a person will answer. If you are in the EEA or UK and you are not satisfied with our answer, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date below. This version is effective 3 September 2026.
