Operating at a higher level of conscience is one of the highest priorities of the human race. We want to play our part.
To promote Nonviolence in business, and to fund Nonviolent projects in education, based on the Nonviolent Communication practices developed by Marshall Rosenberg.
Citizens of Our Planet is a foundation started and backed by Chili Piper, Inc. Chili Piper is a tech company with employees in more than 30 countries. We believe we are all brothers and sisters across countries and borders. It follows that wars across and within countries are completely absurd.
Yet violence is far more pervasive than war. It is found at every level of human interaction, including inside businesses. And it leaves its imprint on each of us, behavioral patterns built on fear and trauma that limit our ability to live the life we want.
There's a better way.
In the last decades before his death, Marshall Rosenberg observed in detail the behavioral patterns that alienate us, and identified alternative patterns that can make our lives much more wonderful.
Citizens of Our Planet exists to promote those alternative patterns in business, and to fund projects teaching them to educators and students all over the world.

Our first grant back to the founding mission: a partnership bringing Nonviolent Communication into French schools, working with teachers and school staff.

Where we focus now
Most people spend most of their waking hours at work. If the patterns of fear, blame and coercion live there, they live everywhere. For the last 14 months we have been deploying Nonviolent Communication training across Chili Piper, adapted to what each role actually does, with much success. We share what we learn openly.
How we practice itThe patterns are learned early, and they can be taught differently. We fund organizations bringing Nonviolent Communication to educators and students, starting in France, and now committing to projects in Spain and Colombia.
